The Renner to Present “Carrie The Musical”

Carrie The Musical

ZANESVILLE, OH – The cast and crew at the Renner Theater are getting ready for their next big production.

Coming up on October 10th through the 12th and 17th through the 19th will be “Carrie the Musical”, based on the novel by author Stephen King.

Cash Helser, who will be playing Billy, says the show follows high school students bullying a girl in their class who later finds she has powers that she can’t control.

“It’s about high schoolers going into their senior year prom.” Helser said. “Carrie is the main character, kind of a basket case, everyone picks on her, and she learns she has these powers of telekinesis. Good things happen, bad things happen, but you’ll know the ending if you come and see it.”

While there are a few teens in the cast, the show touches on some mature themes as well as bullying so parental discretion is advised.

Helser says even though the show has these mature themes, they’ve become like a family behind the scenes.

“Even though there is bullying and we play these mean characters I feel like we have really good chemistry backstage.” Helser said. “I’ve made a lot of friends doing this, I went in with a bunch of friends, and it’s been such a nice time even though we have such bad characters to play.”

Adult tickets are $15, seniors and students are $12, and children 12 and under are $5.
