The VFW Hosts its Third Annual Kid’s Summer Party

For the third summer in a row the local VFW Post 1058 held its Kids Summer Party on Putnam Avenue.
The annual event features plenty of ways for the kids to beat the heat with water slides, slip and slide volley ball, slipe and slide sumo wrestling, and games to play with a chance to take home prizes big and small.
“The attendance is great. I’ve been walking around, seeing the kids participate all the different games and stuff to win prizes and stuff. And this is my first time attending one of these and it’s miraculous to how big it is and the community involvement and the post has succeeded in being recognized by the community and being appreciated in everything they do,” said Roy Campbell, the District 5 Commander of the VFW.
Many of the people who volunteer with the VFW to run the event are here in a way of saying thank you to their contributions to the community like the West Muskingum Soccer team and Maysville High Schools Cheer team.
“It’s pretty awesome to help give back to the community in so many ways that they also contribute to our team cause the VFW supports us in many ways. So we like to help give back every once in a while,” said Destinee Worden, a member of the Maysville High School cheer team.
“Yeah, they’ve donated to help us get some new material this season which is very awesome, especially cause it’s our senior year. So we get to have some new great material for our last year cheering,” said Alexia Snyder, Worden’s teammate.
Attendance numbers for this years event aren’t available yet but last years Kids Summer Party had almost 300 kids in attendance and members of the VFW are hoping that number went up this year.
