ZANESVILLE, Ohio - Local Bluegrass group, The Wayfarers, will make their debut on The Lorena Sternwheeler this Saturday.

The Lorena is rounding out the summer season with the popular band, playing an hour long cruise down the Muskingum River.

Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce Vice President, Kelly Ashby, is excited for the group to make their debut.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have The Wayfarers aboard The Lorena Sternwheeler for the first time. We have had a fantastic cruise this year, and done some different things on The Lorena. So this is certainly adding to that, and we are absolutely thrilled,” said Ashby.

The Wayfarers will make some history on the cruise this weekend, playing a song written during the Civil War era entitled ‘Lorena.’ The sternwheeler was named after the song.

Bassist, Nathan Zangmeister, said a local minister in Zanesville was going to marry the love of his life, but she left him for a better more wealthy man. He never got over that, and ended up writing the song.

There are a limited number of tickets left. Stop by the Welcome Center, or call 740-455-8282 to purchase tickets. Check out The Wayfarers Facebook Page.
