The Y-City Barbershoppers to Host “Y-City’s Got Talent” Show

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local singing group is gearing up to wow and entertain the community with their annual performance.

The Y-City Barbershoppers will host their “Y-City’s Got Talent” Barbershop Show on September 29th at 3pm in Secrest Auditorium.

Troy Ball, the President of the Y-City Barbershoppers Chapter, said many of their members play different instruments and they wanted to showcase everyone’s talents.

He said there will also be many singing selections from many different genres.

“We do some popular songs like we’re going to do one called “Eastbound to Down”, everybody’s heard of it, from Smokey and the Bandit,” Ball said. “Then we do some traditional barbershop show, so it’s just going to be a great afternoon of entertainment for families and stuff like that. Grab lunch before or dinner afterwards, and you know, just make it a date.”

The Y-City Barbershoppers will also have a section of the show dedicated to the heroes.

Pat Norris, a Chapter Member, said it’s been a challenge learning the new songs but they’ve been having fun along the way.

“A lot of laughing, and people making [funny] remarks like “You talk too loud,”” Norris laughed. “But it’s been enjoyable, very enjoyable and it’s supposed to be healthy for you, I mean that’s what we try to tell people when we’re trying to recruit more members to sing, it’s good for your health and the other thing is you get out the house for a couple hours every week.”

Tickets for “Y-City’s Got Talent” are $15 and can be purchased at Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl, the Secrest Auditorium Box Office, or from any Barbershop member.
