The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority Is Looking For Aid In New Project
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority is trying to implement  ways to bring businesses to our area.
The Port board met at the Welcome Center Wednesday for their monthly meeting. Executive Director, Matt Abbot, said he feels good about the state of our economy going into 2016.
“We’re closing in on the end of 2015,” said Abbot. “We are starting to look to appropriate our budget and make some changes for 2016. We’re in a strong financial position I feel here at the Port Authority. So we have a lot of opportunity to get a lot of great things to this community. Our partnership with the City of Zanesville and Muskingum County. I can’t say enough about those individuals that have partnered to create what’s best and do good things for our region. It’s been very positive.”
Abbot said the Port is working on a Redevelopment Pilot Project.
“The biggest thing is the redevelopment project through Jobs Ohio,” said Abbot. “We hope to get some funds, to ready of site in the Zanesville-Muskingum county area. I feel like we have a very competitive edge over a lot of applicants that have sought these funds. As far as our site is being less than two miles off of the Interstate 70, one of the most traveled interstates of the country.”
Abbot said he is seeking grant money to aid in the Redevelopment Project.
