Thornville Church Celebrates 175 Years

A church in Thornville is celebrating a milestone this weekend…

Grace Lutheran Church marked its 175th anniversary Sunday. Planning Committee Chair Janice Barrett said the celebration is all about the church’s history in the community.

"Good memories of the relationships with the pastors and, to see the children have grown up and what’s going on in everyone’s lives, and just to see all of our members together in a happy situation," said Barrett.

The event began on Friday with a service put on by the youth. Barrett said the teen group even created a timeline of historical events throughout the church’s 175 years.

"Each individual has an important part to play. Doesn’t make any difference what your age is. He can use us wherever we are and whatever gifts we have, and our talents."

Capital University’s Women’s Chorus performed during the celebration.
