Thornville Freedom Festival
THORNVILLE, OH- Thornville is celebrating the 4th of July with their 3rd Annual Freedom Festival.
Throughout the day there was a variety of different activities for the community to be involved in such as the hot dog eating contest or the helicopter demo. Their parade began at noon.
“We’ve got a T.A.C. committee which is called the Thornville Activities Committee and a bunch of ladies and a few of us guys have worked very hard months leading up to today to bring back more than just the parade for Thornville, back years ago we used to have a lot of other activities and those sort of fizzled out over the years but they’ve worked very hard, we have got a lot of great things that have gone on already this afternoon, a pet show, hot dog eating contest, an ice cream eating contest, DJ’s, we’ve still got special music going on into the evening and then the highlight of the day this evening will be fireworks, and we haven’t had fireworks here in 25 plus years so we are really happy,” said Thornville 4th of July Parade Announcer John Ulmer.
Thornville will be hosting their Freedom Festival again next year with hopes of bringing back the fireworks once again.
“Just tell your friends and neighbors and everything to be sure to come out because I’m sure we’re going to repeat a lot of those things that I made reference to that we did this afternoon and we encourage people to stick around Thornville, it’s a great community and stuff and we want to showcase the area and we want them to come back and bring people with them,” said Ulmer.
