Tidings of Peace

The auditorium at Coshocton High School filled with music as the Coshocton community choir Christmas concert decked the halls.

More than 200 singers and musicians from central Ohio performed Christmas music to a packed house Sunday, December 7th. Eleven days prior to the concert, an unexpected turn of events took place. Conductor Charles Snyder slipped on ice and fractured his ankle. Unable to attend Jennifer Spur, who has been a member of the choir since 2006, stepped in as the fill-in conductor.

"We’ve got a wonderful program planned. Great music, wonderful inspiring narration it’s a really wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit," said Sper.

The concert featured three different choirs. The 100-voice adult choir, 70-voice children’s choir, and the 60-voice teen choir, all performing a mix of sacred and secular choral music that fit in the theme of "Tidings Of Peace".

"It’s really exciting, one of the things that’s remarkable to me about this concert is that there’s so many different types of sounds you’ll hear. The children’s choir obviously sounds very different from the adult choir which is very full and rich," said music intern Chad Putka.
