Tips on Staying Safe This Summer
Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer for a lot of people, and that means enjoying some summer fun…
The Dresden pool opened Monday, and plenty of people took advantage of the opportunity to beat the heat. Pool Manager Samantha Mizer said it’s important to stay safe in the hot weather.
"Always wear sunscreen, especially SPF 15 or higher. Always stay hydrated, lots of water, try to avoid the pop on these kind of days. And always come to the pool with a friend. It’s always important to swim with a buddy," said Mizer.
People of all ages cooled off in the pool, and 10 minute breaks are mandatory throughout the day for everyone, including the staff.
"Supervision is very important. That’s why on busy days like today, we hire extra lifeguards to patrol the water. Lifeguards take a 10 minute break every day to stay hydrated and to refocus themselves."
Mizer said to re-apply sunscreen every two to three hours, especially if you’re in the water.
