Toasting to A New Year

It’s time to ring in the new year.

For many that means popping the cork on a bottle of champagne. If a bottle of bubbly is on your list there’s two questions you should ask, how much do you want to spend and what type.

"Asti is real sweet and is made with a moscato grape and usually made in California, not in the champagne region," explained Winerak Beverage Manger Chad Lynn.

A bottle of champagne costs anywhere from $5.99 to $499.00. If you’re not sure what kind of champagne to ring in the New Year with, Lynn has a recommendation.

"Something middle of the road, if you’re not looking to spend a lot of money, but want something decent," said Lynn. "You can can get Korbel which has a full line of extra dry brews, Rose, Asti or something real popular like the Rossi Asti."

Other New Year’s hits include beer and liquor, but it’s the champagne that people gravitate to the most.
