Tommy W. Martin (June 4, 1929 – July 21, 2009)

Tommy W. Martin, Jr., 80 of Zanesville, passed away at 8:55 AM Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Campus following a lengthy illness. He was born Tuesday, June 04, 1929 in London, the son of Tommy W. Martin, Sr. and Rosa (Howard) Martin. He married Beatrice L. (Braglin) Martin on Thursday, March 15, 1975.

He was a veteran of The United States Army and worked for Neff Trucking for many years. He was a life member of the DAV. He loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed fixing anything. He was a loving and adoring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by six children: Walter Dewane Martin of Cambridge; Christine Norris – Balding of Columbus; Tommy E. (Peggy) Martin, Tony A. Martin, Timothy C. Martin and Jeannine (Henry) Johnston all of Zanesville; fifteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren; four brothers: Paul Martin, Richard ”Dickie” Martin, Ralph Martin and Freddie (Adline) Martin; four sisters: Kay Turner, Carolyn Page, Jackie (Jimmy) Norvet and Alison ”Lucky” (Roland) Stokes and many nieces and nephews:

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Beatrice Martin who passed away October 23, 2000 and one brother: Melvin Martin.

Visitation will be two hours prior to funeral services from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Friday, July 24, 2009 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Paul Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Veterans Gardens with VWF Post 1058 will conduct Full Military Honors.
