ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The annual Tools for Schools drive is coming to an end for this year.

The drive looks to collect supplies to send to schools so that students do not run out of necessary supplies. Director of Facility Services for the schools Matt Hittle explains the process.

“They’re’ doing the same thing they do every year, they’re packing Tools for Schools supplies for all the kids at the school so they’ll have all the things they need to use. They get supplies that they can use when they run out, they’ll have extras in the rooms and stuff for kids that sometimes don’t have the supplies that they need. So it always helps that we do this program, it’s a great program, they’ve done it for quite a few years.”

The venue has changed for the fundraiser and all supplies were donated by local businesses and private citizens. Hittle says that the event is good for the students as well as the volunteers.

“I just appreciate everybody’s support and the city and all the vendors that help out. All these volunteers, the volunteers are awesome. The same people do it pretty much every year and it’s a great program for the kids and it’s very rewarding to them and to us as well I believe.”

Area schools will resume classes at the end of this month.
