Top 10 picks at the Library
The best of the year, it’s something spread to many different mediums. Monday, the Muskingum County Library System announced it’s top picks of 2014.
The lists break down into different genres including both adult and juvenile fiction and non-fiction and also a young adult category. Jeff Kinney was one of the most popular authors this year in the county as he took nine of the top ten spots in the juvenile fiction category. Assistant Director of the library system, Blair Tom, explains how the lists were chosen.
“People are always really fascinated to see what other people are reading, and we are as well,” Tom said. “So we went through the statistics of 2014 and we have a top 10 circulating titles borrowed from the Muskingum County Library System during 2014.”
Tom said the lists allow people to see what others gravitate toward while reading. It also serves as a way to maybe get people interested in other titles that they wouldn’t normally check out.
“Depending on what your interests are in reading, some people are more non fiction readers, so the fiction’s not as valued,” Tom said. “Then some are really surprised and it intrigues them, and it encourages them to go visit that author or topic.”
If you’d like to see what all books made the list, there is a display of some of those books at each of the six libraries.
