Level 2 Road Advisory
GUERNSEY COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – The Sheriff’s Office in Guernsey county has issued a road emergency due to flooding in the area. Sheriff Michael McCauley has placed Guernsey County under a Level 2 Road Advisory.
Water Covered Roadways
ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – Heavy rain and severe weather can cause waterways to overflow onto the roads, making it hazardous for drivers. The Zanesville Fire Department says there doesn’t need to be much water on the road for cars to get swept away and that you shouldn’t drive through standing water.
SR 555 Closed
MORGAN COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – The Ohio Department of Transportation says State Route 555 in Perry County will be closed for emergency repairs starting Friday. The road will be shut down between Deavertown in Morgan County and State Route 37 in Portersville.
Tree Planting Event
ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – And on May 2, the OSU Extension of Master Gardeners is holding an event at the Zanesville Art Museum aimed at teaching community members how to properly plant and care for trees. To register for this event, you can pick up a form from any local gardening store, the library, or the art museum.
Proposed Medicaid Expansion
COLUMBUS, OHIO (AP) – Governor John Kasich is voicing optimistic Ohio lawmakers will ok money for his proposed expansion of Medicaid. Funding for the effort was done last year by the controlling board after republican lawmakers balked. Kasich says he does not expect to have to go to the controlling board for approval this year.
