Toy and canned food drive

Toy And Canned Food Drive

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- ‘Tis the season for giving and several community leaders are teaming up to spread Christmas cheer throughout the city.

The Zanesville Police and Fire Departments, Dutro, and Pepsi are asking for donations for a toy and canned food drive. The goal is to fill up four trucks with toys and food to make Christmas special for those in need.

“So what we would like for people to drop off is a new toy. And any canned good, perishable food. You know, still in the box,” said Hobson. “And think about the meals we’re going to be providing over the holiday season. So if you can tie those in like green beans, corn, something like that.”

The drive got started when Dutro’s General Sales Manager Mark Falls reached out to Hobson about doing something for the community for the holiday. Together they decided to do a drive. Soon the Police Department joined in and Mayor Tilton got involved. All of the toys and food collected will benefit service organizations in the city.

“We are going to donate the food equally between Christ’s Table and Salvation Army,” said Falls. “We’re also going to take a lot of the toys to the Salvation Army because they have more of the kids that need the toys for Christmas.”

Donations can be dropped off at Dutro’s service garage on December 9th and 16th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The team will be handing out hotdogs, chips, and drinks for donations. They will also accept clothes and coats as donations.
