Trace of Toxins Found in State Park Lake

Samples taken from the lake at Burr Oak State Park a week ago are showing the presence of two toxins at very low levels.

The Ohio EPA called in Green Water Labs in Florida and the Celina Utilities Water Laboratory to help detect what a blue-green scum that continues to form at the surface is. While the scum has yet to be identified, the water samples did yield traces of microcystin and saxitoxin, but the EPA says the amount is too small to be considered a danger yet. It is asking people who visit the state park though to use caution if they decide to make contact with the lake.

The lake was also tested for two other toxins, which turned up negative.
