Track & Field Camp for Aspiring Athletes

Young athletes showcased their track and field skills at Zanesville High School Thursday.

Team GodSpeed’s 6th annual Track and Field Camp kicked off Thursday afternoon and brought in young athletes from all over the area to get some expert training. Team Godspeed Board Member, Patrick Pugh, said aside from the "Y" City Mile, the camp is one of the biggest events the ministry hosts all year.

"The purpose is to either introduce kids to track or improve their skills," Pugh said. "We bring in college and high school age coaches and we have different stages for specialized events."

Pugh said the camp is a great way for young athletes to get involved in sports, and more importantly exercising at a young age.

"We think it’s a tremendous opportunity to get kids out, to get them exercising and get them involved… to get them to understand the importance of running and activity," he said.

The camp runs through Friday and there will be a track meet on Saturday for the athletes to put what they’ve learned to the test.
