Tri-Valley Football Coach Wright Passes Away

DRESDEN, OH

He was on the verge of inheriting the back-to-back MVL big school football champions this season, but now tragic news out of Dresden, as new Tri-Valley head coach Joshua Wright has sadly passed away at the age of 50.

Nicknamed “Moose”, Wright was approved as the new head coach at the end of May after his predecessor, Cameron West, announced his resignation in order to take the role of principal at the high school.

He held nearly three decades of coaching experience, not only as an assistant coach with Tri-Valley, but also at Philo for many years among other stops, as well as a head coaching stint at Berne Union from 2008 to 2009.

Coach Wright was an English teacher at the high school upon his untimely passing.

He is survived by his wife, Amybeth and his children Maggie, Ally, and Drew among countless other beloved family members.

A prayer vigil will be held at 8 pm following calling hours on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
Calling hours will take place at Farus Funeral Home, 383 Main Street, Duncan Falls, Ohio on Tuesday. July 1st from 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday July 2nd at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville, Ohio, with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant. Coach Wright will be laid to rest at Mount Olive Cemetery.

Tri-Valley will honor Coach Wright with a candlelight vigil at the school’s football field on Wednesday, July 9th, at 8:30 pm.

Condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and the entire Tri-Valley community.
