Tri-Valley Once Again Ready to Contend in Competitive MVL Big School Division

DRESDEN, OH

They are back for more. The Tri-Valley Scotties are once again looking to be among the very top of the ever competitive MVL girls basketball field, and coming off a third place finish in 2023, the Lady Dawgs are a unique team that has every reason to believe that they will get right back to the top of the standings this time around.

“This team has got their own kind of identity. I will say this. I think they’re one of the most balanced offensive teams, potentially, that we could have” said head coach Kurt Kaufman. “And I think we could throw some wrinkles out defensively that maybe, maybe we haven’t been able to do in years past because we have a lot more height than we typically have. So I’m kind of intrigued and interested to see where that takes us.”

Now entering his tenth year as the head coach in Dresden, Kaufman is hoping that it will take the Lady Dawgs to an MVL championship for the first time in three years.

“We’re working hard, we’re taking it one game at a time, actually, one practice at a time, and every day we’re trying to get a little bit better and kind of see that, see where that takes us” Kaufman added. “Now saying that, we open up with, you know, Sheridan, early in our schedule, West Muskingum early in our schedule, John Glenn early in our schedule. So those are some of the teams have been typically at the top of the conference. So we’re going to be tested early.”

Senior center Jacie Rollison added, “It’s definitely going to be really balanced because we have a lot of returning players that we’ve all played together and we have a really good connection. And then we have a couple good point guards that can really distribute the ball, but also score themselves. I think we’re very confident because like I said, we have a lot of returning players, so we’re all very familiar with our offense because last year was really new. So I think that will give us a good run.”

Tri-Valley gets its 2024 season started on Friday, the 22nd when it hosts New Albany before getting into conference play soon after.
