Turkeys to be Served at Christ’s Table

One local organization is giving thanks this holiday season.

Thanks to some generous donations patron at Christ’s Table this Thanksgiving will gobble up some good eats. The Y-city Long Beards Wild Turkey Federation dropped off 533 pounds of turkey for their feast and the East Muskingum Band Boosters brought in 58 pies from their recent sale.

"It really helps keep food costs low," explained Gretchen Sayre of Christ’s Table. "When we look at food costs what we serve, it’s probably 50 cents per meal just in food costs."

The staff and volunteers started cooking on Monday and nothing left over at Christ’s Table will go to waste at this year they’ll serve a meal on Christmas.

"Normally we only serve soup and sandwiches on Saturday," said Sayre. "But the staff felt since it’s Christmas they needed a Christmas dinner."

Thanksgiving at Christ’s Table will be served from 10:30am-12:30 Thursday.
