U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown Visits Quanex
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) visited Quanex Building Products in Cambridge Wednesday afternoon.
After meeting with upper management of the facility, Sen. Brown took a tour of the plant and met with members of the staff.
The bipartisan Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act (RAMI) that Brown helped introduce has recently passed through Congress. It transfers the determination of job training federal dollars to local businesses, labor unions, investment boards and communities. This addresses a concerning issue that many decent paying jobs are currently unfilled. By working with local educational institutions, it’s possible to train workers for those existing jobs.
This is something that Quanex is doing through multiple programs, allowing young people to see how manufacturing works and hopefully increase the desire for engineering or manufacturing jobs in the area.
