Underwood Ramp Closure for I-70 Project Begins August 18th
ZANESVILLE, OH – The Underwood Street on ramp to I-70 will be temporarily closed starting Sunday as part of the ongoing I-70 reconstruction project.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 8 PM on Sunday, August 18th, and will last for approximately 90 days during the reconstruction of the mainline at the end of the ramp. The closure is necessary for phase 2 in the I-70 project.
“Currently right now, we are reconstructing about half a dozen bridges through the project. I believe we have a total of 16 bridges that are involved in this project that we have to reconstruct,” ODOT District 5 Public Information Officer Chas Cosgrave said.
During this closure period, motorists are advised to use alternative routes to access I-70, including the Maple Avenue interchange. Drivers are urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use detours.
“During this period, we will still have several ramps open. The State Route 40 ramp, State Route 93 ramp, as well as the State Street Ramp will still be open during this time,” Cosgrave said.
