United Way Donates To Zane State Student Fund

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan donated $5,000 to a Zane State student fund.
The Emergency Grant Program has seen a sizable donation from the United Way for the past several years. It’s part of the organization’s dedication to the education of area youths.
“Our Community Impact fund, we have that and funding because we just wanted to acknowledge the community need. Just any organization that has a specific community need, they can reach out and apply for that Community Impact Fund. One of our goals for United Way is education in the community, so this really hits that goal,” Community Impact Coordinator Katie Grubb said at the check presentation.
Zane State understands that many of its students encounter financial hardships throughout the school year. The grant fund is paid for through donations.
“This goes to the students and it covers any of their emergency needs, so it varies based on the students. It could be groceries, it could be a car repair, it could be emergency childcare, or coverage for their rent. We would welcome donations, all they would need to do is contact the college foundation office. To reach the foundation office you can call 740-588-5000 and ask for the foundation office,” Dean Elizabeth Kline said.
Zane State has an enrollment of over 3,000 students across south and central Ohio.
