United Way says Boo! To Hunger

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The United Way and Colony Square Mall are ready to say Boo! To Hunger.
On Monday the 31st, Halloween night, you can bring your non-perishable food items and canned goods to Colony Square Mall for the annual trick or treating event.
Meg Deedrick, Executive Director of United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties said the office receives between 800 to 1000 calls a month on their 211 information and referral services number. She said one of the top consistent requests is food.
“It could be your neighbor, it could be somebody that your child goes to school with [that] has problems with food and security, [or] just simply does not have enough to eat,†said Deedrick.
There will be receptacles set up at the mall over the weekend for those who can’t make it to the trick or treating event.
“You can always bring a canned good and we will make sure it gets to a food pantry or a hot meal program in Muskingum county,†said Deedrick.
The donations will be collected the morning of November 1st and distributed by the Muskingum County Hunger Network.
