Victim identified in fatal accident on S.R. 16

ZANESVILLE, Ohio--The State Highway Patrol has identified the man who was struck and killed on State Route 16 in Muskingum County Monday morning.

Authorities said 44-year-old Roderick E. Walcott of Frazeysburg was stopped on the side of the roadway around 6:45 a.m.  Walcott then exited his vehicle and was struck by a utility truck that was traveling westbound on State Route 16. The vehicle continued westbound without stopping.

After the initial impact, a second vehicle driven by 20-year-old Daniel Fellers of New Philadelphia struck Walcott as he was lying in the roadway.

Troopers said at around 2:30 p.m. Monday investigators located the hit skip vehicle near Grove City. The vehicle was identified as a 2018 Freightliner utility truck  owned by Thayer Power Communication Line of Reynoldsburg. The vehicle was driven by 30-year-old Jordan Kirk of West Lafayette.

The accident remains under investigation.
