Village of South Zanesville to Host Community Clean Up Day
ZANESVILLE, OH – South Zanesville leaders are continuing their efforts to spruce up the village.
The Village South Zanesville Police Department and Fire Department, along with other village officials are teaming up to host a Community Clean Up Day. The Clean Up Day will be this Saturday, May 4th, from 9AM until noon. Clean up will begin in the parking lot of Riesbeck’s and move as needed.
Mark Ross, the Chief of Police for the Village of South Zanesville, said the trash problem was brought to his attention and something needed to be done.
“[One of our Councilmembers] has been seeing a lot of trash specifically around Maysville Avenue, 719, and some of the streets,” Chief Ross said. “A lot of the public drives through South Zanesville and sees. He felt the need to try to have pride in our community, pride in South Zanesville, and pick up the trash at least once a year and make it a better community.”
Chief Ross said this will be a great opportunity for community members to help make the place they live and work look nicer.
“It’s to just take pride in where you live. [People] drive through South Zanesville on a day to day basis and I mean you don’t want people throwing trash in your backyard and you don’t want them throwing trash in your front yard,” Chief Ross said. “There are people who do that, that don’t even live here, but we need to take pride in our community and come and clean up.”
