Vo-Ag Barn Fire Under investigation

DUNCAN FALLS, Ohio – A vocational Agriculture barn fire is currently under investigation.
The fire took place next to Philo High School Thursday afternoon, as students were leaving the school.
Several students, teachers, and a Muskingum County Sheriff School Resource Officer assisted in releasing 3 cattle from the barn while it was ablaze.
Duncan Falls Volunteer Fire Department Lieutenant Cody Smith said that 4 livestock pigs were unable to escape, and perished as a result of the fire.
Smith stated that when the fire crews arrived, they were met with heavy fire conditions but were able to bring the blaze under control without any spread to the adjacent barns on the property.
Departments on the scene included: Duncan Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Harrison Township Fire and Squad, South Zanesville Fire Department, Washington Township Fire Department, Genesis Community Ambulance, and the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office.
