Volunteers needed for Christ’s Table Canister Drive

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Christ’s Table will be holding their Canister Drive this weekend, but, they are in need of volunteers.
The drive will take place at all grocery stores throughout Muskingum County, which means they will need all of the helping hands they can get.
Keely Warden, Executive Director of Christ’s Table, said the volunteers work two-hour shifts from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
“It’s just two hours out of your life, you can come out and you can do something good for somebody else,” said Warden.
You may recall a drive that was held in the fall– the winter months used to yield peak volume, however that has taken a shift and summer months are now turning into the busiest.
“The need is out there and our numbers typically go up in the summer; June, July and August are our busiest months because all the kids are out of school and they’re here eating. So it’s very important for us to get those shelves stocked, get that food ready, because we know its coming,” said Warden.
In previous years the Canister Drive has brought in $10,000 to $12,000 that contribute to their $20,000 monthly operating cost.
