WHIZ Annual Military Salute Photo Contest

ZANESVILLE, OH – WHIZ is inviting you to express your gratitude and honor our servicemen and women through our 5th annual Military Salute Photo Contest.

This yearly contest is a wonderful opportunity for community members to share and celebrate the military service of their loved ones. To participate, simply visit our website and upload photographs of family members or friends who have served in any branch of the armed forces.

“We encourage people to send pictures of their favorite veteran. It can me from any of the armed forces, army, navy, air force, marines, coast guard, we’ll take them all. We want them all. Some of them are posthumous, some of the veterans have already passed on. That’s okay, because we’re still going to honor them all summer long,” WHIZ Station Manager, Jay Benson said.

The contest runs until the end of the summer, and the winners will be announced shortly after Patriots Day on September 11th. Twelve winning entries will be honored with a three by five American flag, proudly manufactured in Coshocton County by the Annin Flag Company.

“The amount of response that we get from viewers and listeners every year, it really speaks well of the patriotism in our area and how patriotic we are as a company and as a group of stations. We honor our veterans and it’s an opportunity for us to do that and in a tangible way, really show them how important they are,” Benson said.
