Water Tank Leaking in Roseville
ROSEVILLE, OH – The Village of Roseville is dealing with a major leak in one of their water tanks.
According to Jeff Jadwin, the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director, the village recently performed some routine maintenance on a water tank, near old State Road 21.
Jadwin said during the maintenance, crews found some water on the ground around the tank as well as some water seepage.
“They had an inspection company come in with cameras and go on the inside of the tank and they discovered several large cracks,” Jadwin said. “Then they noticed additional seepage, there’s one area they noticed that you can kind of see the water running out.”
Jadwin said the above ground tank was built around the 1940’s and holds about 150,000 gallons of water. He said the inspector said it wasn’t a matter of if the tank would break, but a matter of when and they are concerned with the nearby power lines.
Jadwin said this is going to be a long process of getting the funding and then replacing the old tank.
“Rumors have already started that we’re evacuating The Village and we’re shutting it down, that is not the case,” Jadwin said. “Even if there was a total failure, it wouldn’t affect the entire village, other than other parts of the village would lose water. So we’ve been in contact with the county water, so that they can add additional water to the supply that the village gets.”
