West 40 4-H Club Receives Proclamation From Muskingum County Commissioners

Co Commission 4h

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Fire hydrants are looking a little more colorful in Gratiot thanks to the West 40 4H Club.

The club’s 4H program teaches kids hands on activities and projects. Over the years they have accomplish community service projects such as cleaning and painting the milestones on Route 40. Their meetings are held at the National Trails Fire Department where the group was asked to paint fire hydrants in the area.

“They asked us about painting some fire hydrants for them. So the kids on a Saturday morning painted all 14 fire hydrants out in Gratiot. Had it all looking nice for the 4th of July parade,” said Advisor of West 40 4-H Club, Mike Dosch.

The club received a proclamation at the County Commission meeting this morning for their community service in Gratiot. They also discussed the projects and the mission of 4H with the Commissioners.

“It’s good to teach the kids community service and to help out. And it’s a requirement of 4H, and it’s one of the H’s of 4H,” Dosch added.

The next big project for the club is working at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.
