West Muskingum Building Not Usable
A new copy machine that used to be used by West Muskingum Administrators is covered in soot. A TV in one of the rooms is melted.
The room seems so dark and smoke still fills the air.
West Muskingum Superintendent Sharon Smith says the recycled modular at the West Muskingum Schools Administrative Center used to be of great use to the school district .
It housed the district’s Transportation, Food Service, and Safety Director. The other half of the building was also used for public meetings, but an early morning accident Sunday has left the building in ruins.
“We have fire and smoke damage throughout the building as well as a pretty large hole in front of that building. It’s not usable at this time, ” says Smith.
The recycled modular caught fire after a vehicle ran into the building early Sunday morning and caught fire itself. Crews were called to the scene to put out the fire.
Smith says damages are still being assessed.
“I don’t know whether it will be fixable. Yeah, we definitely need to replace the building, ” says Smith.
The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident. The driver of the car fled the scene and has not been found.
