When You Can’t Come to the Library, They Come to You

If you and the family love visiting the library but don’t have the time or transportation, you may want to see if the library is coming to you.

The Muskingum County Library System performs Outreach Stops throughout the community, where they bring library services, like signing up for library cards and brings books to check out.

“So, we recognize that getting to the library isn’t easy for everyone. We wish everybody could get here but we also know that sometimes work and other things get in the way so by taking outreach to different areas, we’re able to provide those people the services that their not able to get. You know? For instance we have some areas that are closer here to Zanesville where we might have working families that just have a hard time making it, and we also service other areas like Frazeysburg or Adamsville that don’t have a proper library location,” said Outreach Services Manager Joshua McPeek.

For McPeek, his favorite part of these bi-weekly Outreach Stops is the personal connections that can be made along with the change in scenery

“They’re really fun because first of all you’re working outside and that’s always a delight and you really get to meet each individual that’s coming in. When you work at a big library you got many, many different people coming and that’s great but when you’re doing outreach stop you really get to make it a good fit for everyone. You get to find out what kind of titles that stop is interested in and you get a really feel for the community you’re stopping at,” McPeek said.
