WHIZ’s Military Salute Honors Brody Sheppard

ZANESVILLE, OH – WHIZ continues honoring local veterans in tonight’s Military Salute.
Brody Sheppard began serving his country four days after graduating from high school where he served in the Marines for about 6 years.
When he returned home from the Marines he joined the Ohio State Highway Patrol and following the events of 9/11 he enlisted in the Army.
“It’s an honor any time you get a local organization or a local business that supports its veterans.” Sheppard said. “It’s really touching and it shows you that there’s people out there and local businesses that support the military and first responders and all of that so it’s a credit to the local small businesses that do that.”
Michael Thorne, the President of Thorne Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, says they value veterans service and sacrifices they make to provide us our freedoms, so it was an easy decision to sponsor a flag.
“It really meant a lot because Brody and I have had the pleasure of knowing each other for a few years and I would’ve loved to present it to any veteran but it was nice to have that connection with somebody I knew for a while.” Thorne said.
Sheppard’s flag came straight from the Annin Flag Company out of Coshocton.
