Winter Driving Symposium

SOUTH ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Library System routinely holds events that encourage literacy by focusing on timely and relevant topics.

Marketing and Community Relations Director Sean Fennell announced an upcoming event that will detail winter driving safety.

“We have a very timely program for everyone,” Fennell said. “With all of the snow that we just had and quite a few months left in winter, we are offering a winter safe driving program in partnership with the Ohio State Patrol, at our South Branch library. This is happening this Tuesday at 2 p.m. So anyone is welcome to join. The program is completely free and open to all. We do ask that people do register for the program.”

Literacy is often associated with reading and writing but anytime information is shared to increase proficiency, it can be considered literacy.

“So this program is designed for anybody I think, from beginners to people who are experienced in driving in the snow,” Fennell said. “You know we don’t get it all the time but it is definitely something we have to deal with here in Ohio and Muskingum County fairly regularly, at least yearly. So we want to make sure that people have their skills brushed up a little bit. So even if you just want to go as a refresher, maybe you have a teenager in your life that is getting ready to start driving or is driving and they want to have a little bit more education, this might be a really wonderful opportunity.”

You can register for the hour-long seminar, which will be presented by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, by visiting muskingumlibrary.org.
