Winter Road Conditions
Spring may only be a month away, but today it definitely didn’t feel like it.
With below freezing temperatures and close to 3 inches of snow falling throughout the day road conditions were anything but ideal.
“Terrible, yeah actually I was surprised. I though Route 22 and some of the main routes would be open, you know, clear. I wasn’t expecting that but, we’ll make it” said Jeff Kokensparger.
Electa George said she would have canceled her appointments if it wasn’t for her husband, “My husband brought me, and we did all right but you need to go slow because it is slick. ”
Your best bet when the snow starts to fall is to simply stay home. If that isn’t possible being prepared is key.
Kokensparger made some suggestions, “Just be sure you got lots of stuff in your truck, car or whatever you are driving. Blankets or anything if you get stranded, that way you can keep warm. Make sure you keep your gas tanks full. Those things are important because if you run out of gas and don’t have anything to cover up you’ll freeze inside your car.”
If it is necessary to venture out onto the roads, rest assured as the Ohio Department of Transportation of Southeastern Ohio reports over 110 snow plows out working to clear the roads with salt treated with Beet Heat. Beet Heat works effectively at 5 degrees or below.
