ZANESVILLE, OH – The recipients of this year’s Women of Achievement Awards hosted their annual luncheon today at the Zanesville Country Club.

The luncheon serves as an opportunity for the recipients to meet each other, mingle, and talk about the dinner and ceremony they will all be attending on April 9th.

Amanda Blevins is the recipient of the Winifred K. Vogt Education Award and said it’s been an honor to be nominated for her hard work.

She said it’s not all about her though, she’s had many people from colleagues and family members helping her along with her mission.

“Any time I get an award, it’s not just me that should be getting the award because, like I said earlier, there’s so many people that help me do what I do, from the school district, to the parents, to the students themselves.” Blevins said. “I would say to them that whatever work you’re doing every day, if you get up and go at it everyday and give your best everyday then you are always deserving of any achievement you receive.”

Katie Ware is the recipient of the Ethel Granger Schultz Young Adult Award for her work with the elderly here in the community and Karen Lyons is the recipient for the Lifetime Service Award.

Ware said it’s been amazing to be welcomed in and accepted by the Women of Achievement board and she was not expecting to be nominated for an award.

“Like I said, it’s very humbling, this is a remarkable room of women.” Ware said. “Reading the lists of of the past recipients, like I cannot believe I’m on that list as well. These women are amazing, people out in the community that have been looked up to for many, many years, so it’s very humbling.”

Lyons said she couldn’t believe it when she found out she was also nominated, but she’s honored and says it means a lot to her.

“I do the things I really enjoy doing and to be nominated and receive an award for it, just icing on the cake!” Lyons said. “I’m actually in several gardening clubs and I help with the containers downtown and I also work at Dr. Increase Mathews with my friend, I just love that, it’s wonderful.”

The 2025 Women of Achievement awards presentation will be held on Wednesday April 9th at the Zane State College Campus Center.
