Work Commences on 8th Street Sinkhole
A portion of Marietta Street in downtown Zanesville will remain closed throughout the day Wednesday.
Crews are commencing work on the 8th Street sinkhole. Public Service Director, Mike Sims, says the road restrictions were put in place early Tuesday as workers hooked connections for storm and sanitary sewer lines.
The project was initially put on hold at the end of May because crews ran into unstable soil and needed to contact the Ohio EPA. Since that time, the city’s engineer re-designed the project to shallow the depth of the trench.
Sims says he anticipates the project will be completed in about a month, with other road restrictions possibly being issued in the future.
