Work Safety Awareness

The Muskingum County Summer Youth Program will be at the Mideast Career and Technology Center all week.

They are getting their OSHAA 10 training. It will show the teens how to properly use a ladder and tools, and it will more importantly show them how to be aware of what’s going on in the work environment.

“The last thing we want is for any children to ever be injured during the summer youth programs. So, this will help make sure that they stay safe, ” says Summer Youth Program Director, Jason Schroeder

Schroeder says it’s possible to provide the OSHAA 10 training because of stimulus funding.

“The goal of this, one hundred percent, is to improve employ-ability skills. Every one of these youth is getting a paycheck. So, hopefully, it will help stimulate our local economy as well, ” says Schroeder.

About 120 teens are taking part, ranging in age from 15 to 24.
