Zane State College Day 2025

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Zane State College is a local institution that strives to help area youth find their best outcomes.
Zane State College Admissions Counselor Mercedes Mathers explained how today’s event invited area high schoolers to meet with recruiters from a variety of different career and educational organizations to better understand all the options that are available to them.
“College Day is one of our largest recruitment events that Zane State College hosts each year,” Mathers said. “It’s a pretty long held tradition here on campus and it’s a really fantastic event. We typically host anywhere from around two to 300 high school students from regional high schools each year and it’s just a really great opportunity for them to come visit campus and visit with some other area institutions and colleges.”
More than 50 representatives including businesses, technical schools, military recruiters, and numerous colleges were on hand to explain to the hundreds of attendees how they could benefit from the programs and services their organizations are able to provide.
“So I came to the event today because I just wanted to discover more colleges and get more information from colleges that I already plan on, like looking at and going to, visiting. And one of the colleges that really stand out to me is Miami University. It’s one of my favorites. I’ve toured their campus. It’s beautiful and they have great programs. I plan to major in education, specifically, secondary education. And I kind of want to lean more towards the English side, so I could help students write and just do all that sort of things.” Tri-Valley Senior Addison Woerner said.
Planning that next step after graduation is a decision that will impact the rest of their lives and Zane State’s College Day helps students better understand the options they have and point to how they can more easily pursue the career of their dreams.
