Zane State Receives Grant Money
“Start here, Go any where” just got a little easier for Zane State College students after receiving a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Along with four other two year colleges in Ohio, Zane State will share in $4 million in funds to expand its successful Developmental Education Programs. “This grant is intended to help colleges that have shown success in their developmental education programs. We would kind of ramp up and bring some projects that have shown promise to scale.” Says Dr. Chad Brown VP Academic Services & Workforce Development.
Zane State will use the just over $740,000 to increase on the 87% of students who graduate from the college. 40% of those students of which were enrolled in the Developmental Education Program. “It adds to our focus on the first year and it helps scale up a project that we have been doing very successfully with our students who need developmental math education and scale that up to developmental English and developmental reading as well.”
The college will start receiving the money later this summer, with the new programs coming to scale in the fall.
