Zanesville anticipates March snowfall

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Spring may be a week away, but the community is bracing for a snow storm.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has their trucks loaded and ready to go, but some people have stocked up on their own supply of salt and ice melt.

The search for the product may not be as easy as running to the most convenient store. The mild winter has many stores gearing up for Spring, clearing out their winter merchandise.

Jacob Dale, Customer Service Representative at Maysville Do-It Center, said they’ve had a number of people come through for the winter products.

“They were coming, worrying about the weather. [It] seems to be that we’re one of the only places that still has salt and ice melt and shovels still out for sale,” said Dale.

He also advised homeowners to pay attention to the drastic up and down temperature change and what that could mean for their pipes.

“People should be mindful of the cold if the temperature drops too low and their pipes are exposed. There’s a possibility that they’ll burst, something that they want to protect against in the long run,” Dale said.

He suggested heat tape; an electrical cord that wraps around the exposed pipe and when plugged in conducts heat to ensure the pipes don’t freeze and subsequently burst.

Dale said the Maysville Do-It center and Sunrise Do-It Center both have supplies for the snow storm. Both locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and
