Zanesville Astronomy Club hosting Solar Eclipse Presentation

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- If you are looking for a chance to get a pair of solar eclipse glasses an are club will be hosting an educational event in August.
On August 17th at 6:30 pm in Elson Hall on the OUZ/Zane State Campus, the Zanesville Astronomy Club will host a presentation explaining the solar eclipse as part of many meetings held throughout the year.
“We have over 200 members currently. It is free and it is very educational and families are invited to attend. We meet the second Friday evening of every month usually starting at sunset and sometimes we do have workshops.” said Coordinator of the Zanesville Astronomy Club, Irene Baron.
While attending, the solar eclipse glasses will be distributed to avoid some nasty effects from looking at the sun for an extended period of time.
“You don’t feel the burn the burn is going to happen in your retina and you wont feel it you wont even realize it until the next day you will go to look in the mirror and there is no face you will look in the newspaper and there is no words and you can go to the eye doctor and they can tell you exactly what you were looking at on the sun because the crescent or whatever it was is burned right into your retina.”
