Zanesville City Fire Dept welcomes three new Lieutenants

Zanesville, Ohio- Three Zanesville Firefighters were promoted today.
Kyle Trout, Zach Irwin, and Anthony Shriver were all sworn in as lieutenants this afternoon during a ceremony at Zanesville City Hall. Shriver has been with the Zanesville Fire Department for eight and a half years and says it feels good to finally be promoted.
“I’ve been stepping up for quite a few years. The promotion process is quite a lengthy process, kinda stressful, so it feels good to finally get promoted. I am looking forward to a new crew and new responsibilities, new station, kind get me outta my comfort zone.”
Irwin has been with the Zanesville Fire Department for just over eight years and is appreciative of the support from his family and friends.
“Well it feels great you know, we’ve got the family here, the guys here, to support me it feels really good. I’m looking forward to getting over there and the new guys, building relationships, and moving forward from there and hopefully we can do some nice things.”
Trout has been with the Zanesville Fire Department for a little over ten years and notes his inspiration comes from his grandfather.
“It feels really great, it’s very special to me that my family could be here and that my grandfather could be here. He was a past Fire Chief and that was one of the biggest reasons I got into this career so it was very special to me that he was here.”
The Zanesville Fire Chief, Eric Waltemire, looks forward to working with the new lieutenants and believes they will all bring good changes.
