ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville City Schools Music Department is preparing for a week full of performances.

The Music Department’s week starts with the Choir’s trip on Saturday to perform in the Music in the Parks event at Cedar Point.

Cole Pennington, the Director of Vocal Music with the Zanesville City Schools, said following that on Monday, May 13th, there will be the Middle School Band Concert at 7PM.

He says this performance will be special for a few extra reasons.

“That will be our Band Director, Kelley Ryan’s final concert. He’s retiring, so it’ll be nice to send him off that way,” Pennington said. “[On] Tuesday, May 14th, at the High School is our choir concert. We’ve entitled it, “The Greatest Show” and you’ll hear some music from “The Greatest Showman” and “Hamilton The Musical” and other things, hopefully they’re quite familiar.”

Pennington said on Thursday May 18th, the High School Orchestra will be performing their Concert “Movies and Motifs” with songs from popular classics like “Jurassic Park”, “Lord of the Rings”, and some “Fast and the Furious”.

He says they’ll wrap up the week with the Zanesville High School Alumni Choir’s concert.

“We’re just over 50 members in the Alumni Choir and there is still time to sign up,” Pennington said. “If you want some more information, you can send me an email. But there is still time to sign up for that and we’re already picking out music and getting pianos tuned and getting the day ready.”
