Zanesville Doctor Lands Movie Role

A Zanesville chiropractor landed a role in a big-screen adventure.

Dr. Russ Schroder is an extra in "Marvel’s The Avengers".  He said he came across the opportunity while attending a weekend class in Cleveland.

"I was just sitting around at a steakhouse, and as I was reading the paper, I saw at the very bottom that there was a casting call for the movie," said Schroder.  "The next day I called some friends to see if they might be interested."

Schroder said his friends passed on the trip, but he stood for hours in the July sun, hoping to snag a spot in the film.  Within a few weeks, he got a call for a costume-fitting.

"The coolest thing was that Loki said hello to me," said Schroder.  "He walked by as I was looking around.  All of a sudden, up walks this tall, bright green bad guy with horns on his head."

"Marvel’s The Avengers" opens Friday in theaters nationwide.
