Zanesville Flight Tours This Weekend

Now through Sunday Zanesville Municipal Airport is offering rides in the EA 1929 Ford Tri-Motor airplane so you can get that birds eye view of the area.

Rides in the historic plane cost only 75 dollars and hours of operation will be from 9 a.m to 5 p.m Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The plane seats 10 passengers in comfortable leather seats with big picture windows great for sight seeing. We caught up with pilot Colin Soucy:

“We’ve been doing this for years. We travel around the country, each weekend is in a different city as we go on tour. This is our touring through ohio time of the year. The plane will work its way down to Florida this winter and we’ll spend winter in Florida.”

This particular plane was manufactured in dearborn, michigan by ford motor company and these tri-motor planes were the first all metal airplanes manufactured in the u.S where passengers rode indoors making it possible to now fly from Detroit to Chicago in the middle of winter. Captain Soucy has made over 4,000 landings in this plane.

“I’ve been flying antique airplanes my whole life. I’ve been flying Ford tri-motors for 25 years so I enjoy doing it. I’m a retired airline so this is what I do for fun, this is just a fun job. The passengers that go for a ride just love the airplane. It’s got big, comfortable leather seats and big, picture windows. It’s really nice for sight seeing. So, just flying 1,000 feet off the ground and looking down at Zanesville like that, it’s just a great ride.”

Soucy says everyone gets off the plane with a big smile on and encourages you to come take a ride this weekend.
