Zanesville High School Hosts Wrestling Tournament

There is still a lot of activity at Zanesville High School, even during winter break.

Today ZHS held it’s 1st ever wrestling tournament. Head Coach, Pat Lawson said he envisions having a great tournament this year and wants to continue having it for more years to come.

“I’d like to see a full squad. Get everybody out. Fill all the weight classes. Show how much wrestling does it for not only one sport but both sports wrestling and football. Out of all of Coach Urban Meyer’s recruiting, he’s only recruited 5 guys that solely played football. Everybody else was a multi-sport athlete. A lot of people don’t realize most of your tip football athletes are actually wrestlers as well,” said Head Coach Pat Lawson.

Coach Lawson said this tournament was a year in the making. His goal is to make this tournament even bigger next year.

“Make it a bigger tournament. Bring the best competition we can in Ohio and surrounding states to this make it a quality tournament that everybody wants to see, enjoy, and watch,” said Coach Lawson.

And we will have the results from the match on our website once they are finalized.
