Zanesville leaning on leadership in 2023

ZANESVILLE, OH- The Zanesville Blue Devils had an up and down season last year. They started the year 1-11 before rattling off a five game win streak. The Blue Devils were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
“There were about 10 games where we lost by 5 points or less. That’s a turnover, deflection, or a loss ball, the games could have gone either way. So that’s a teachable moment for our guys and coaching staff.” Said head coach Cedric Harris.
The message can resonate well with the current players on the roster. Zanesville has six players returning who played meaningful minutes in 2022.
“I think we have some good experience. It could help us in the long run because the guys are starting to come together.” Harris said.
Senior Rashaud Hampton was the Blue Devils leading scorer last season and understands the pressure of being scouted on a regular basis. He believes this team is buying into the message at the right time.
“Everybody is on the same page. We’re all having fun and enjoying each other. People are coming into practice with great vibes. I feel it, I am ready and excited for a great year.” Said Hampton.
After the round one exit last season, Coach Harris is ready to make a statement in 2023.
“I’d love to win the LCL and make it out of the districts. I think we have some experience where we put ourselves in some good positions if we continue to work hard mesh at the right time. I’m excited about this group.”
You can watch this group start their season on Saturday December 9th when they take on Utica.
