ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Zanesville Lions Club host their first ever golf outing.

The goal of this golf outing is to raise funds get a pilot dog in Muskingum County. Richard McConnell has had a pilot dog since he was 14 years old. McConnell brought his pilot dog to Eaglesticks, to show the Lions Club members how useful pilot dogs are. Lions Club member, Darin Alexander said the cost of K9’s is $10,000 and that’s why fundraising is so crucial.

“This is our first year of having it,” Alexander said. “We’re looking to have it for many, many more years. This is one way for us to raise the funds.”

Alexander said putting on this fundraiser has its challenges but he still describes it as a successful event.

“Lucky we live in really supportive community and the sponsorship has been actually better than expected. To be truthfully honest, the biggest challenge was actually to get teams to get able to come out. We have 8 teams today. But we’re hoping to build that, continuously through the future,” Alexander said.

Alexander thanks everyone who came out to Eaglesticks Sunday. The Lions Club is always accepting new members. The Lion Club meets at 6 p.m. every second Tuesday at Primrose Retirement Community. For more information, contact Sandy Hamilton at (740) 453-6011.
